Robert A. Wieboldt

Robert A. Wieboldt was appointed in July 1996 as Executive Vice President of the Long Island Builders Institute.  Since 1970 he was the Executive Vice President of the New York State Builders Association, Inc., acting as spokesman for the private residential building industry in New York State, serving as an advisor to several Governors and Legislative Commissions.

Currently he serves on:  New York State Rural Resources Commission, Land Use Law Advisory Committee; South Shore Estuary Council, the Long Island Sound Coastal Advisory Commission; the New York State Central Pine Barrens Advisory Board, Town of Brookhaven Open Space Advisory Committee and Suffolk County Smart Growth Advisory Committee.

Mr. Wieboldt has been a long-term advocate for affordable housing, sensible growth management policy and land use reform.  He is a board member of Sustainable Long Island and the Long Island Housing Partnership.

Mr. Wieboldt was an instrumental participant in the Long Island Pine Barrens Preservation and Development agreement.  For his Pine Barrens work, the Conservation Fund honored him with the 1994 Alexander Calder Award.  In May 1996 the Metropolitan Chapter of the American Planning Association presented him with the Laurence M. Orton Award for leadership in city and regional planning, for his Pine Barrens role.
