Erika Hill

Director of Programs

Erika joined the organization in July 2016. In her role as Director of Programs, she is responsible for coordinating several concurrent programs areas such as food access and equity issues, community health and wellness, economic development and community revitalization, promoting health and water quality, and environmental justice island-wide.

Erika grew up on Long Island but her community interest was sparked while in Atlanta where she worked with organizations such as United Way of Greater Atlanta in their Resource Development & Community Impact Departments, YWCA of Greater Atlanta and most notably her work with Partnership for Southern Equity. Erika served as Project Manager for Partnership for Southern Equity’s Metro Atlanta Equity Atlas (MAEA) during the development and implementation phases of the initiative. MAEA was designed to connect local stakeholders to timely, accurate data by examining 8 key areas of community well-being. In her role she managed stakeholder volunteers through the development process, coordinated a 5 County engagement effort, spearheaded a 28 county community outreach plan and aided in the establishment of MAEA’s online presence. Erika also has extensive marketing research experience where she has managed qualitative research projects, aided in questionnaire design and administration, facilitated group discussions and managed vendor & client relationships. Erika previously served as a graduate intern with Sustainable Long Island in 2010 where she aided in preliminary research and analysis around the food equity work of the youth run farmers’ markets and food access mapping for the Long Island Index.

Erika has a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University.
