Now is the time for YOU to make a difference!

At Sustainable Long Island, we work every day to better Long Island for all of us, now and for future generations. We do it because we care and more importantly, because you care about the future of Long Island. We have worked across the region for over a dozen years and now is the time for YOU to make a difference.

Rather than sitting here reading about our organization, you can join us in our efforts by volunteering, interning, or joining Sustainable Long Island today! Every Long Islander can work with staff on sustainability issues, community planning and revitalization projects; while experiencing all the different aspects of a non-profit organization.

“There are over 3000 nonprofit organizations in existence on Long Island. I chose to intern with Sustainable Long Island because its mission is a reflection of my personal belief that Long Island’s future rest upon our ability to create a level playing field, (sustainable economic opportunities, healthy environments, and social equity)  for all our community members.” Monica Rice (Intern)

“Thank you very much for making my time at Sustainable Long Island a memorable one. I have learned a great deal about many aspects of my own community and the many things that could be done to improve it. I will surely use this knowledge to become more involved and encourage my own students to become involved in the bettering of their own communities. I look forward to assisting you in future community outreach events.” – Carlos Amaya (Intern)

“I have had an extremely enjoyable experience at Sustainable Long Island as an intern. It is an amazing organization that is proactive in changing Long Island for the better. As an environmentalist it is sometimes difficult to have a persistent positive outlook on the future of “Green Living.” I have found comfort and reassurance here that there are people out there who care and make a difference. One of my favorite parts of working for Sustainable Long Island is that not only am I assisting on projects that are important to the community, but also matter to me on a personal level. ” – Nicolle Navaretta (Intern)
