Global Community Day – Sustainable LI leads over 50 Citi volunteers in Long Beach beautification efforts

Each year, tens of thousands of Citi volunteers, their friends and families join together for Global Community Day – an opportunity to use their time, skills and expertise to make a difference in their cities. In 2015, more than 80,000 volunteers worked alongside community partners at service projects in 487 cities across 93 countries in the days leading up to and including Global Community Day.

This past weekend, Sustainable Long Island facilitated a community cleanup in the City of Long Beach as part of Citi Global Community Day 2016. Sustainable Long Island led over 50 Citi volunteers in beautifying the Central Business District between Laurelton Boulevard and Riverside Drive. Beautification efforts included picking up garbage and debris, and sweeping and weeding green spaces throughout the surrounding areas.

A small group of volunteers also cleaned up garbage and debris, while planting flowers at the City’s Recreation Campus flag pole (located at 150 West Bay Drive, Long Beach) in honor of Flag Day.

Sustainable Long Island would like to thank all who were involved. We are happy to take part in the annual event where commitment to communities is the main focus.
